Is that the college? downtown? It makes me think of cloud plumes from Europa. Our 6″ of snow melted in a flood of rain today. And I thought we had a blizzard. How you must laugh at us from the lower 48.
Yes, you can see University of Alaska on the left (multiple plumes of steam) and Fort Wainwright on the right (one plume). Downtown Fairbanks is pretty much in between the two. A weather inversion is holding a cold layer of air close to the ground – you can see moisture and particulates as ice fog covering town. It’s not a good thing for those of us who have to breathe the air but as for the lower 48, with all the crazy weather, I think I’d rather be here!
